Welcome

A Trusted Local Team, Not a Call Centre

Newtown has plenty of electricians. What is rarer is one who shows up on time and is still standing behind the job a few years down the track.

That is where we come in. We are through this inner-west arts and music strip most weeks, and the terraces packed in behind King Street give a sparkie no shortage to do.

We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C and belong to Master Electricians Australia. Every price is agreed in writing before a tool comes out of the van.

Our about page explains how the team operates.

Newtown Homes and What They Need from an Electrician

Newtown runs thick with late-Victorian and Federation terraces thrown up in the 1880s-1910s boom. A lot of them are heritage-listed two-up-two-down rows, plenty barely four metres across.

Those slim terraces were wired for a much simpler life indoors. Start renovating and the demand on the system jumps.

Supply that has run out of headroom is the fault we meet most. Feed a modern kitchen, split-system cooling and a wall of new appliances through the original single-phase connection to a small terrace, and it was simply never sized for that.

The signs are a board that drops out under load, or one running warm with no spare way left to add a circuit. Fixing it usually means a switchboard upgrade, and now and then a heavier supply to match.

Not everything here is a terrace, either. Recent apartment infill near King Street shares the streets with 1960s-70s walk-ups, so unit work fills out our week alongside the old rows.

Off Enmore Road or on a terrace looking over Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, we start at the meter box and the exposed walls before a price is written. None of these houses is wired quite like its neighbour.

Why So Many Locals Choose Us

Newtown leans young and rents far more than it buys, so most calls come from busy people who just want the thing sorted properly and once. Here is why they stay with us.

Straight Talk, Plain English

We turn the standards into ordinary words on the spot, so you understand what a safety switch (RCD) does and why a circuit needs one, without the code-speak.

One Fixed Price, In Writing

The figure is settled in writing before we lift a tool. Nothing runs on an hourly clock, and no surprises on the invoice at the end.

Covered for the Life of the Home

A lifetime workmanship guarantee sits under everything we finish. If our workmanship is ever the cause, we come back and fix it at no cost.

A Reputation You Can Look Up

Over 600 five-star reviews carry the name. Helen, via Google, described us as reliable and quick to work our way around a tricky problem.

How we work

Our Process, From First Call to Handover

Four plain steps carry you from the first ring of the phone to the certificate that proves the work met standard. None of it happens out of sight.

  1. 01

    Talk It Through

Describe what has gone wrong, or what you want done, and a local books you a slot. A reminder text lands the day before.

  2. 02

    Quoted in Person

A sparkie comes out, sizes up the job face to face, and leaves you a fixed written quote. Nothing proceeds until you say go.

  3. 03

    Fitted and Left Tidy

We fit premium gear, drop sheets down and the place left tidy, and label each circuit as we wire.

  4. 04

    Signed Off

We test the lot, produce whatever compliance paperwork applies, and send the after photos through.

Emergency Electrical Help Across Newtown

A few faults will not sit quietly until a weekday slot, and burning plastic is the loudest warning of them. Ring the moment you meet any of these:

  • A sharp, acrid smell rising off a socket or the board
  • Warmth or scorching you can feel on an outlet or a light fitting
  • A safety switch that trips again the instant you reset it
  • Crackling, buzzing or arcing you can see at a point or switch
  • Power lost in one part of the home while the rest stays on
  • Any cable that looks charred, bare or heat-damaged

If the whole street is dark, that is almost always an Ausgrid network fault. Everything from your switchboard in is our job.

Storms are the flashpoint locally. The western and northern ends of Newtown feed the Johnstons Creek catchment, and a board soaked through after a heavy fall is a call we field often.

Switch the circuit off at the board if you can safely reach it, then get us on the phone. We respond fast, often same or next day, and quicker again for a real emergency.

Safe and Compliant on Every Job

Every job clears the safety bar a home has to clear, and we put the evidence in your hand. Four things never move, whatever we are there to do.

Wired to AS/NZS 3000

The AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules govern the work start to finish. Fresh RCD safety switches and clear circuit labelling come as part of the deal, not an upsell.

Certificate of Compliance

Notifiable work closes with the compliance certificate lodged with NSW Fair Trading. Its cost lives inside the agreed price, never bolted on later.

Accredited and Verified

Master Electricians Australia membership is the kind of accreditation you can go and confirm yourself instead of taking on faith.

Licensed and Insured

Anyone up in your roof space holds a NSW contractor licence you can check and carries full insurance, not just a promise made at the door.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

A handful of things Newtown homeowners like to check before they book. If yours is not below, ask on the call.

Is my old switchboard dangerous?

A ceramic fuse board with no RCD is a genuine hazard when a fault hits. We inspect yours and give you a straight answer on whether it needs replacing or just attention.

Do I get a Certificate of Compliance after the work?

On notifiable work, yes. That certificate goes to NSW Fair Trading, and its cost sits inside your quote rather than turning up as a surprise line later.

How does your pricing work?

No hourly rates here. You approve a fixed written price up front, and first-time customers take $50 off that figure.

How quickly can an electrician arrive in Newtown?

Most jobs get a slot within a day, often same or next day, and a true emergency jumps the queue. Newtown sits on our regular Inner West rounds, so the wait is rarely long.

Is there an electrician near Newtown open on weekends?

Weekend appointments are there if that is what works for you, and the emergency line stays open through the night for sparks, hot smells or a board that has died.

Do you offer emergency electrical work?

Yes, any hour, for the real emergencies. Sparks, a burning smell or lost power move to the front, and a licensed sparkie will walk you through making things safe first.
